Celtic FC have continued their domination of the Scottish Premiership after easily dispatching St. Johnstone in Perth today.
A sunny winter day along the River Tay began with Ange Postecoglou’s squad dominating possession early in their usual fashion. An early shot by Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi was deflected into the net by St. Johnstone’s defender Andrew Considine. While the first one may have been counted as an own goal on the defender, Celtic supports didn’t have to wait long for Kyogo to repeat this feat with a 22nd minute stunner.
St. Johnstone’s #14 Drey Wright was able to put one on the board in the 25th minute to deny Celtic a clean sheet. However, it wasn’t enough to stem the tide. After Aaron Mooy put another away for Celtic in the 38th minute, the scoreline read 1-3 at half time. In the second half was more of the same in terms of Celtic’s control of the pitch. In the first minute of stoppage time Andrew Considine was sent off for a foul against Celtic’s new signing Oh Hyeon-gyu. As if things couldn’t get worst for St. Johnstone, two minutes later matt O’Riley setup David Turnbull to shoot in a 4th shortly before full time.
With a final score of St. Johnstone 1-4 Celtic FC the question needs to be asked if anyone is able to stop Celtic’s undefeated run. Ange Postecoglou’s side hasn’t lost a domestic match since St. Mirren was able to upset them back in September. Celtic faces St. Mirren in the 5th round of the Scottish Cup this Saturday. Fans will wait in anticipation to see if St. Mirren can repeat their early season victory, or if Celtic’s dominance will never stop.
